9 December, 2008 - 18:42 Amazing Mazda3 CarPC

Taking time to revel in others' work is an important part of CarPC building. You can find amazing ideas that you never knew before. Take this Mazda3 CarPC for example.

This CarPC enthusiast went down a different route than most people when installing a CarPC. The traditional operating system to use is Windows. It's flexible, and has wonderful software support. Instead the installer uses Linux, which if you know what your doing is a wonderful alternative to Windows.

Here is the specs of the Mazda3 CarPC:

- Via Epia M10000 Mini-ITX

- M1-ATX 90 Watt (Power Supply)

Ever wonder if there was an option for hooking up your XM satellite radio to your Car's PC? Well I did some searching and came across a very well put together tutorial.

Here is a list of the parts you'll need:

* 8 pin mini-din plug. If you can get your hands on a older mac printer cable it has the correct style of plug.
* female db9 connector & hood
* Wires to connect it all up.
* 12 volt tap. (get it form somewhere)

If it's something you would like to take the time in doing, you can find the rest of the tutorial, read more | add new comment

9 October, 2008 - 15:16 Product Spotlight: Coleman Powermate PMP400 Inverter

Today I'm going to start a weekly campaign, where I'll be spotlighting different CarPC components.

Today we'll be taking a look at the Coleman Powermate PMP400 Inverter.

The PMP400 is by no means a perfect inverter, and there have actually been reports of it 'smoking' on people. If you're looking for a deal, and aren't running a whole lot of power through it, then it might be something to look into.

The Inverter provides current, and thermal protection which is vital when deciding on a power supply for your CarPC setup
